Mr. Dennis Shaw is a graduate of the class of 1965. He lettered in Football, Basketball, and Baseball while attending Damien. He was an All League and All CIFSS selection multiple times while playing football for the Spartans. He attended USC and SDSU and played football for two years with both teams. While playing for the Aztecs he set an NCAA record by throwing nine touchdown passes in a 70-21 win against New Mexico State University on November 15, 1969. In that same season he set a single season school record for touchdown passes (39) and passes intercepted (26), the latter statistic led the NCAA for that season. He was a 2nd round draft pick in the 1970 NFL Draft and played 8 seasons in the league with the Bills, Cardinals, Giants and Chiefs. In his 1970 season he was named the NFL Rookie of the Year.
